‘Clerks III’ is a go; Lionsgate will distribute worldwide

Shooting kicks off in August.

Here’s some good news for fans of Kevin Smith as it has been announced that Clerks III is heading into production very soon, and Lionsgate has picked up worldwide rights to distribute the movie.

Deadline reports that Smith returns to write and direct as well as return to the role of Silent Bob for a third outing in the hit series. Jeff Anderson returns as Randal, along with Brian O’Halloran as Dante, Jason Mewes as Jay, and Rosario Dawson as Becky.

The trade reports that in the film, ‘following a massive heart attack, Randal enlists Dante, Elias, Jay and Silent Bob to make a movie immortalizing his life at the convenience store that started it all.’

Shooting will reportedly get underway on the project in August, we presume in New Jersey where both of the first movies were set.

Here’s the trailer for the film that started it all.
