MUBI to release the superb ‘Shiva Baby’ on Blu-ray and DVD in November

One of the best films of the year.

Some news now from MUBI who has confirmed that they will release the superb indie festival hit Shiva Baby on the physical home formats in November. The film screened at both the Toronto International Festival in 2020 and then this year’s SXSW in March. We caught the film at that festival and absolutely loved it.

Here’s a little more about the movie.

A darkly playful comedy of chaos about a young bisexual woman grappling with tradition and independence, Shiva Baby tells the story of Danielle (Rachel Sennott), a college student on the verge of graduating who is faced with a series of increasingly awkward and humiliating encounters at a climactic day-long shiva, a Jewish gathering of friends and family during a time of mourning.

The film is the feature debut from writer-director Emma Seligman and stars Rachel Sennott, Molly Gordon (Booksmart), Polly Draper (Billions, The Good Wife), Fred Melamed (WandaVision, The Morning Show, A Serious Man) and Dianna Agron (Berlin, I Love You, Glee).

The DVD and Blu-ray will hit shelves on 22nd November. No confirmed box art or bonus feature details as yet but we’ll keep you posted.
