Interview: Actors Fionn Whitehead, Lily-Rose Depp & Tye Sheridan & writer/director Neil Burger on ‘Voyagers’

Voyagers is released on Sky Cinema on 8 October.

Like so many titles, Voyagers was stuck in the movie log-jam created by the pandemic. Originally scheduled for release in the summer, it brings its vision of the future to Sky Cinema this week, following a group of young people sent into outer space in search of a new home for the human race.

Written and directed by Neil Burger and with Fionn Whitehead, Lily-Rose Depp and Tye Sheridan as the leaders of the group of young astronauts, it’s set aboard a massive space ship heading for a planet 86 years away. The crew all know they’ll never reach their destination, but that their children and grandchildren will. During the mission, they discover that one of their daily drinks has been designed to make them more docile and compliant so, when some of them stop taking it, it triggers a series of events that threaten the entire expedition and everybody’s lives.

In these exclusive interviews, filmed during lockdown earlier year, we talked to the film’s three main actors and its writer/director about all aspects of the film, from its inspiration to creating its claustrophobic atmosphere, how they would personally cope with space travel, the physical demands of their roles and whether the food in the film was as bad as it looked!
