2013 saw Isaac in his breakthrough role when he partnered with the Coen Brothers. He played the title role as we see a week in the life a folk singer trying to make it in the music business. His role as a resistance X-Wing pilot who is searching for Luke Skywalker has made him another member of the Star Wars family. His character doesn’t use his talents to go and get massive wins. Instead, he bets small and wins modest amounts nearly every day. This 2016 movie saw the versatile actor playing another nationality. This time he was an Armenian medical student, living in Turkey just before World War I. The promise in this movie is for him to marry the daughter of a wealthy neighbour, for which he’ll receive 400 gold coins as a dowry. However, he then falls in love with another woman and more problems arise when the war begins. It’s not the most cheerful of movies but Isaac is on top form.
