Home release details for Céline Sciamma’s ‘Petite Maman’ and Valdimar Jóhannsson’s ‘Lamb’

MUBI has sent along the home release information for two of the best films of 2021: Céline Sciamma’s Petite Maman and Valdimar Jóhannsson’s Lamb. Both will be released in March onto the physical formats.

Petite Maman, which scored a place in my top five of 2021, tells the story of eight-year-old Nelly’s fantastical journey after the death of her beloved grandmother. While helping her mother clear out her childhood home, Nelly begins to explore the surrounding woodland and encounters a strangely familiar girl her own age. Instantly forming a connection with this mysterious new friend, Nelly embarks on a formative flight of fancy that encourages her to come to terms with this newfound loss.

There are a few bonus bits with the disc, which are as follows:

  • Q&A with writer-director Céline Sciamma
  • Six exclusive art cards (Blu-ray only)

Meanwhile, Lamb is a dark fable that tells the story of a couple, María (Noomi Rapace) and Ingvar (Hilmir Snaer Gudnason) on a remote farm in rural Iceland, who find their quiet existence shaken by the astonishing discovery of a mysterious newborn amongst their sheep. They decide to raise the child as their own, but soon face the consequences of defying the will of nature. An audacious, genre-defying mix of horror and folklore, Lamb is truly like nothing you have ever seen before.

Lamb Extras:

  • Q&A with director Valdimar Jóhannsson and Noomi Rapace
  • Six exclusive art cards (Blu-ray only)

Petite Maman will be released on Blu-ray and DVD from 21 March, while Lamb hits the same formats on 28th March.
