‘Chopper’ set for cinema and digital return to celebrate the film’s 20th anniversary

The celebrated Australian film Chopper is set to return to select cinemas and digital platforms later this year to celebrate the film’s 20th anniversary. Can you believe it has been that long? Eric Baba plays the title character of Mark ‘Chopper’ Read in the biopic, the hit debut from writer-director Andrew Dominik.

A new remastered version of the film will be released in key cinemas and on digital platforms on March 25th 2022. It was digitally remastered from the original 35mm print.

The no-holds barred story of the notorious Aussie criminal ‘Chopper’ Read. Told in flashback as Read serves one of his many prison sentences, this extreme biography charts the brutal carnage and wicked sense of humour of a man who allegedly committed nineteen vicious murders and got away with it. Mixing startling facts from his nine best selling books, including How To Shoot Friends And Influence People, with stylish pulp fiction, it paints an astonishing portrait of a larger-than-life legend.

Vertigo Releasing will re-release the film after originally releasing the feature back in 2002.

More as it comes in.
