I had no idea that this was a thing but Catherine Tate has a ‘Nan’ movie coming out, and it will be released in the UK quite soon by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film, led by Tate, hits screens from 18th March. You can watch The Nan Movie trailer below.
Mathew Horne, Katherine Parkinson, Parker Sawyers, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Jack Doolan and Niky Wardley round out the main cast.
Catherine Tate’s iconic character Nan hits the big screen as she goes on a wild road trip from London to Ireland with her grandson Jamie (Mathew Horne) to make amends with her estranged sister Nell (Katherine Parkinson). Militant vegan arsonists, raucous rugby teams, all-night raves and crazed cops on motorbikes all make for a proper day out.

An origin story that mixes Nan’s present with her past where we finally find out what’s made her the cantankerous old b*****d she is today.
As I said, I didn’t even know this film was being made but yes, The Nan Movie is a thing and hey, it could be quite fun. Apparently, the project was announced all of the way back in 2019 with shooting taking place shortly afterward. The thing that grabs me about this one is that it is co-written by Ted Lasso‘s Brett Goldstein, who I am a big fan of. Tate is clearly talented as well, and I have loved some of the stuff she’s put out in the past, too.
The Nan Movie‘s release was apparently delayed due to the pandemic, but will hit screens this spring.
The Nan Movie will be released nationwide on 18th March 2022 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
