‘Beetlejuice 2’ reportedly on the way with Brad Pitt’s production company

So, finally, it looks like there might be a ‘Beetlejuice 2’ on the way. A sequel to the 1988 black comedy/ horror has been on the cards for years – or at least rumours, but now news hits from ComicBook via The Ankler that Brad Pitt’s Plan B has reportedly stepped on board to make the movie.

The original film was released all of the way back in 1988 and ‘revolves around a recently deceased couple (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis) who become ghosts haunting their former home that contact Betelgeuse, an obnoxious and devious “bio-exorcist” from the Netherworld, to scare away the house’s new inhabitants (Catherine O’Hara, Jeffrey Jones, and Winona Ryder).’ [WikiPedia]

This was reported late on Monday.

“Plan B Entertainment, inc. — the award-winning production company associated with actor Brad Pitt — is lined up to produce Beetlejuice 2. Both Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder are expected to reprise their roles as Beetlejuice and Lydia Deetz, respectively. The project could reportedly film as early as summer 2022.”

The original film starred Keaton and Ryder alongside Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis. No news as to whether the original film’s director Tim Burton has anything to do with the new one, and, in fact, there’s not much more than what was stated above.

If you’ve not seen the terrific original, we urge you to hunt it down as soon as you can. One of Keaton’s finest performances with the film that followed seeing him take the lead in another Burton movie, Batman.
