Here’s some news that broke quite late on Friday. Will Smith and Michael B. Jordan look like they are set to team up on a new I Am Legend movie sequel. The film is being set up at Warner Bros., and will follow on from events of the Will Smith blockbuster that was released back in 2007.
Of course, the first film was in itself an adaptation of Richard Matheson’s 1954 novel, and Akiva Goldsman, who adapted the source material for the first outing, will return for the next one. Smith and Jordan will co-produce but there still isn’t a director set as yet.
I Am Legend revolves around Smith’s character, the last man on Earth following the outbreak of a deadly virus. The first film was set in a deserted New York City and saw Smith’s Dr. Robert Neville:, a former U.S. Army virologist, battleing plagues of zombies.
The new one’s plot is being kept under wraps, but we’ll keep you posted of any news.
Deadline first reported the news.
