One of Netflix’s biggest movies ever, Extraction, has a follow-up on the way and over the weekend, Chris Hemsworth has confirmed that shooting has indeed wrapped on ‘Extraction 2’.
The sequel, which we presume will be called something other than ‘Extraction 2’, is directed by Sam Hargrave who helmed the first movie. Joe Russo returns as writer. Hemsworth posted a 40 second clip to his Instagram page confirming the news, along with the following caption.
That’s a wrap ! Another Extraction film down. Shaping up to be an epic franchise which has only been possible with the blood, sweet, tears and passion of our amazing cast and crew. Massive thankful to everyone who’s been with us through this journey and cheers to many more, much love team. Can’t wait for you all to see this one!
In the video, Hemsworth speaks very briefly about one of the big stunts in the film – landing a helicopter on a moving train.
The premise for the first movie is as follows:
Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) is a fearless black market mercenary with nothing left to lose when his skills are solicited to rescue the kidnapped son of an imprisoned international crime lord. But in the murky underworld of weapons dealers and drug traffickers, an already deadly mission approaches the impossible, forever altering the lives of Rake and the boy.
If the sequel is half as action-packed and as high octane as the first movie, then we are in for an absolute treat. Hit the link above to check out Hemsworth’s wrap video.
