News hits us that JJ Abrams’ production company Bad Robot is set to bring a new Hot Wheels movie to the screen. According to the trade paper Deadline, the production outfit is making a live-action version of the Mattel toy.
The project is set up at Warner Bros. and Mattel Films who will look at the classic toy car range and bring a movie to screens based upon it. According to the article, there is no mention of a director being attached as yet or cast at this stage.
Mattel is also looking at bringing a Barbie movie to screens. That film is in production and set for screens in 2023. The film is directed by Freat Gerwig and is led by Margot Robbie in the titular tole.
