Justin Lin departs ‘Fast X’ as director

Filmmaker Justin LIn has departed as director of the in-production tenth film in the Fast and Furious series, known as Fast X. He will remain on the movie in a producer and co-writer capacity but it looks like he’s parted ways due to creative differences, as per Deadline.

He released a statement as he vacated the director’s chair just days into shooting.

“With the support of Universal, I have made the difficult decision to step back as director of FAST X, while remaining with the project as a producer. Over 10 years and five films, we have been able to shoot the best actors, the best stunts, and the best damn car chases. On a personal note, as the child of Asian immigrants, I am proud of helping to build the most diverse franchise in movie history. I will forever be grateful to the amazing cast, crew and studio for their support, and for welcoming me into the FAST family.”

The film will release in cinemas in the summer of 2023 with Vin Diesel and other franchise regulars returning for another high octane adventure.

The release date for the movie still remains as 19th May, 2023 with second unit continuing for the time being. The main shoot will pause as a new director is found.
