John Woo to tackle a remake of one of hits greats, ‘The Killer’

The legendary action movie filmmaker John Woo is to revisit one of his greatest movies for a brand new remake. The Killer was released all of the way back in 1989 and is considered one of Woo’s best films, and now it looks like a new version is heading to the Peacock streaming network with Woo back at the helm.

Chow Yun Fat led the cast of the original movie which revolved around a hitman who ‘accepts one last hit in hopes of using his earnings to restore vision to a singer he accidentally blinded.’ Woo also wrote the screenplay for the smash hit.

Peacock’s President Kelly Campbell said in an official statement: “We know people join Peacock to watch movies, so we are constantly adding more to serve fans. Together with the Universal Filmed Entertainment Group, we are excited to deliver fresh, exclusive, original films next year to our customers in addition to the legendary Universal Pictures blockbuster films and beloved franchises streaming now.”

Woo is currently hard at work on SIlent Night, another action movie starring Joel Kinnaman about a man out for revenge against a gang on Christmas Eve.

More news on The Killer remake as it comes in. We are hearing that it will debut in 2023, so expect it to be Woo’s next film.
