Full trailer for the new ‘American Gigolo’ TV series with Jon Bernthal

Showtime has debuted the full trailer for the American Gigolo TV series reboot led by Jon Bernthal. The series comes to Showtime stateside in September with Bernthal in the role originally played by Richard Gere in the movie classic from the 1980s.

Gretchen Mol, Rosie O’Donnell, Lizzie Brocheré, Gabriel LaBelle, and Leland Orser are among the cast of the new series which premieres on September 9th.

The synopsis is as follows:

American Gigolo, a present-day reimagining of the iconic 1980 film, follows Julian Kaye after his wrongful conviction release from 15 years in prison as he navigates his complicated relationships with his former lover Michelle (Gretchen Mol), his troubled mother, and the people who betrayed him. While Julian struggles to reconcile the escort he was in the past and the man he is today, Detective Sunday (Rosie O’Donnell) seeks the truth about the murder that sent Julian to prison all those years ago, unearthing a much larger conspiracy along the way.

No news on where this one will screen internationally but Showtime titles are screened on the just-launched Paramount+ in the UK. There’s no word on whether this will follow suit but we’ll keep you posted.
