A remake of ‘The River Wild’ is in the works with Leighton Meester and Adam Brody

A ‘reimagining’ of the 1994 action-adventure movie The River Wild is in the works and indeed currently shooting with Ben Ketai (StartUp) at the helm directing. The new version has a screenplay by Ketai and Mike Nguyen Le (Patient Zero), so reports Deadline.

Meryl Streep, Kevin Bacon, David Strathairn, John C. Reilly, Benjamin Bratt and Joseph Mazzello starred in the original, but Leighton Meester, Adam Brody and Taran Killam will lead the redo, which will reportedly be released on non-theatrical platforms next year.

Deadline reports that the new one will follow ‘a brother (Killam) and sister (Meester) who love but distrust each other, as they embark on a white-water rafting trip with a small group, including the siblings’ childhood friend (Brody), who turns out to be more dangerous than he appears.’

The ’90s version made $94 million at the box-office and was a pretty good movie. Looking forward to this new one.

Here’s the trailer for the original version.
