Arrow Video FrightFest arrives at Cineworld Leicester Square from 25th – 29th August. THN will once more be moving into the cinema to consume as many new entries into the dark heart of cinema as we can. One film we are particularly excited about is Scott Lyus’ Walking Against the Rain, which is screening as part of the First Blood programme. The strand, curated by festival director Ian Rattray gives a platform to those new to the genre scene. Over the last few years First Blood has produced some of our favourite festival films including Death of a Vlogger, A Serial Killer’s Guide to Life, and When the Screaming Starts. Today the team behind Walking Against the Rain – Crossroad Pictures – have unveiled the long-awaited teaser for the film and, as expected, it looks right up our street.
This horror tale of grief, loss, and human connection was shot over fifteen days in the Lake District, in the north of England. Lyus’ UK-produced film stars Sophia Eleni (Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves, Call The Midwife) Reece Douglas (Cruel Summer, Waterloo Road), and Johnny Vivash (Book of Monsters, Deathcember). It also stars creature-actor James Swanton (Broadcast Signal Intrusion, HOST) as ‘The Forsaken’. Utilising full body creature effects, ‘The Forsaken’ creature design was devised by renowned SFX artist, Dan Martin (Possessor, Colour Out Of Space).
Screening on Saturday 27th August, Walking Against the Rain sees two strangers, Blair (Sophia Eleni) and Tommy (Reece Douglas), navigate their way across a barren landscape in a desperate attempt to find each other. With their only form of communication being two radio mics at the end of their battery life, and with a new evil in the shape of ‘The Forsaken’ monsters tracking them down, they must learn to confront loss and rediscover trust in humanity.
If, like us, Walking Against the Rain sounds like your brand of FrightFest film, then head over to the FrightFest website to buy your ticket now.
Walking Against the Rain screens at Arrow Video FrightFest on Saturday 27th August at 6pm.
