Actor Bart Edwards on new film ’The Stranger in our Bed’

If you’re in the mood for a film that could be described as Britain’s answer to Gone Girl then look no further than The Stranger in our Bed. Based on the best-selling novel by Samantha Lee Howe and directed by Giles Alderson, the film analyses the dissolution of a relationship. Filmed during the pandemic, and the first venture from new production company Buffalo Dragon (co-owned by former Hollyoaks star Terri Dwyer), The Stranger in our Bed arrives on digital platforms on 5th September.

Bart Edwards Stranger in our Bed

Feeling trapped in her controlling marriage to her wealthy husband Tom (Ben Lloyd-Hughes, Industry, Sanditon), Charlotte Carlisle (Emily Berrington, Humans) begins an affair with another man, who one day mysteriously disappears without a trace. Behind her husband’s back, she secretly begins an investigation into the disappearance, teaming up with her lover’s sister, Becki (Terri Dwyer, Hollyoaks), to uncover the truth behind what happened. It quickly becomes clear that nothing is at it seems, and after becoming witnesses to a murder, the two become entangled in a dark and twisted game of cat-and-mouse. With her life on the line, Charlotte must uncover what’s really going on before it’s too late.

Playing Ewan, the man whom Charlotte embarks on an affair with, is Bart Edwards, an actor that has traversed a variety of genres across both television and film. His credits include The Dare, The Witcher, UnREAL, and Peepshow, which shows just a fraction of his range. As Ewan, Edwards is only briefly in The Stranger in our Bed. Though his role might be fleeting, Ewan is a character that is intrinsic to the plot. Ahead of the arrival onto digital platforms on 5th September THN spoke with Edwards about the film. We discussed the intimate nature of his performance, filming during a pandemic, his recent UnREAL reunion, and what projects he is working on next.
