New trailer for horror-thriller ‘Piggy’ as it gears up for release

A new trailer has landed for the upcoming horror-thriller Piggy. The film originally premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival back in January but will start to appear in cinemas stateside very soon.

With the summer sun beating down on her rural Spanish town, Sara hides away in her parent’s butcher shop. A teenager whose excess weight makes her the target of incessant bullying, she flees a clique of capricious girls who torment her at the town pool, only to stumble upon them being brutally kidnapped by a stranger, who drives off with them in his van. When the police begin asking questions, Sara keeps quiet. Intrigued by the stranger — an interest that’s mutual — she’s torn between revealing the truth and protecting the man who saved her.

We reviewed the film at Sundance, singling out the central performance by Laura Galán, who is simply fantastic in the movie.

Carlota Pereda writes and directs the feature, which will play in cinemas and on-demand in the US from 14th October. It will also play Alamo Drafthouse Theaters from 7th October.

Here’s the new trailer.
