‘Road House’ with Patrick Swayze is getting a 4K release this year

Classic cult fave Road House, the 1980s film led by Patrick Swayze, is getting the 4K re-release treatment later this year. As far as I can see, this is US only at the moment, but I’d expect an international release as the film is literally about to be remade with Jake Gyllenhaal in the Swayze role.

The website Vinegar Syndrome has the lead on the tech special of the film saying that the film is set to get a slipcovered 2-disc set and a 40-page book, lovely looking case artwork designed by Tom Hodge with the film itself scanned & restored in 4k from it’s 35mm original camera negative. Extra features are TBC.

The film follows Swayze’s cooler, Dalton, brought to small town USA to clean up a dodgy club called the Double Deuce. The film was released during a quadrilogy of classic Swayze movies, right after Dirty Dancing and just before Ghost and perhaps his best film, Point Break.

More on this soon, but this is absolutely going on the want list for Christmas. It looks like a November release is planned.
