Saoirse Ronan has been confirmed as one of the stars of Blitz, Steve McQueen’s next big film project. Variety reports the news of her casting in the period film, which is said to begin filming later year.
Ronan will star an unknown newcomer, still to be announced, in the project, which will revolve around a group of people in London during the Blitz in World War II. McQueen is writing, producing, and directing the project which is set up at Apple.
The is McQueen’s first cinematic venture since Widows in 2018, but he did deliver a series of amazing feature-length works for the BBC series Small Axe, which I urge you to see out if you haven’t already.
No word on when Blitz will get a release, but we’ll keep you posted.
