Joe Lo Truglio is known to audiences as a comedy actor. A regular character on hit comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Truglio has also appeared in movies Superbad,Role Models, and Paul. Outside of comedy the actor is a massive horror fan. A keen reader of Fangoria magazine since his teens, there is nothing that Truglio enjoys better than settling down with a scary movie. His love of the genre has taken the next step with his directorial debut feature, Outpost.
Starring his wife Beth Dover, Outpost is an excellently executed psychological horror that explores the timeless themes of isolation, trauma, and paranoia. In Outpost, Beth Dover plays Kate, a survivor of abuse. Whilst she may have left her former partner, she is haunted by him. Everywhere she turns are triggers that cause her mind to envisage dangers that aren’t there. In need of a detox from her life, and hoping to put some physical distance between herself and her traumatic past, Kate gets a job living in an outpost tower high in the Idaho hills. Her new responsibilities involve living in seclusion, and monitoring the weather and surrounding area for any signs of wildfires. Once situated, Kate finds that her past is harder to shake than first imagined and as she begins to fight her demons, they start to fight back.
Outpost received its World Premiere on Saturday 29th October as part of FrightFest’s annual Halloween event. Rather than let the film screen alone, Joe, Beth, and several other cast members, Ta’Rea Campbell, Dylan Baker, Ato Essandoh and Becky Ann Baker, attended the screening. Whilst they were over, THN were granted time on the media wall to uncover more about the project. See what they had to say by watching the videos below.
