Trailer for Mark Jenkin’s ‘Enys Men’ ahead of its early 2023 release

A new UK trailer for Mark Jenkin’s Enys Men has been released by the BFI. The film has had a release date confirmed for the UK and Ireland for 13 January 2023. The feature is written, directed and photographed by Mark Jenkin and is his first film since his break out Bait in 2019.

The film is described as a mind-bending Cornish folk horror set in 1973 that unfolds on an uninhabited island off the Celtic Sea. A wildlife volunteer’s daily observations of a rare flower take a dark turn into the strange and metaphysical, forcing both her and viewers to question what is real and what is a nightmare.

Shot by Jenkin on grainy 16mm colour film stock and with his trademark post-synched sound, the feature was made on location around the disused tin mines of West Penwith, and it is also said to be an ode to Cornwall’s rich folklore and natural beauty.
