Some release info now and it looks like Wes Anderson’s next feature film, Asteroid City, is set to hit cinemas next summer – specifically in June. The news comes via the trade paper Variety which says that the feature will screen stateside from 16th June (select cinemas) with a wide release set for 23rd June. Focus Features are distributing.

The film is said to be set ‘in a fictional American desert town during a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention.’

The trade says that ‘Chaos ensues as the event, organized to bring together students and parents from across the country for fellowship and scholarly competition, is spectacularly disrupted by world-changing events.’

Asteroid City has quite the cast with the likes of Tom Hanks, Margot Robbie, Jason Schwartzman, Scarlett Johansson, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, Bryan Cranston, Ed Norton, Adrien Brody, Liev Schreiber, Hope Davis, Stephen Park, Rupert Friend, Maya Hawke, Steve Carell, Matt Dillon, Hong Chau, Willem Dafoe, Tony Revolori, Jake Ryan, Grace Edwards, Aristou Meehan, Sophia Lillis, Ethan Lee, Jeff Goldblum and Rita Wilson listed. Wow, indeed.

I expect that this could spring up at the early summer festivals, too. Cannes, maybe?
