Ridley Scott’s Gladiator sequel has got itself a release date. The film is set to explode onto cinema screens in November 2024, so reports Deadline. It looks like Paul Mescal (Aftersun) is in talks to lead the film, reportedly playing Lucius, the son of Lucilla (Connie Nielsen), the story set many years after the events of the original movie, which was released in 2000 to huge critical and commercial success.
The specific date for the sequel release next year is 22nd November, which is prime space for Thanksgiving cinema-going crowds stateside.
Scott is finishing up his Napoleon film for Apple, which reunites the British filmmaker with Gladiator star Joaquin Phoneix. Looking forward to that one. The film charts the French leader’s rise to power and also stars Vanessa Kirby and Tahar Rahim. The movie also reunites hi with his All the Money in the World screenwriter David Scarpa.
Let’s remind ourselves of the first Gladiator which, twenty-off-plus years later, still stands up.
