We’re hearing that a sequel to the 1990s slasher I Know What You Did Last Summer is on the way. Of course, the film has already had a follow-up with I Still Know What You Did Last Summer in 1998 and I Always Know What You Did Last Summer in 2006, but this time the original cast, including Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. are coming back.
The news comes from Deadline, and although not confirmed by Sony Pictures, their insiders seem pretty sure we’re in for some more gore. The slasher film, particularly 90s slasher movies are back in vogue with the Scream franchise doing big business over at Paramount.
According to the trade Neal H. Moritz is set to return, with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson directing and Leah McKendrick penning the script. Love Hewitt and Prinze Jr are said to be in talks.
The first film was about four friends bound by a tragic accident who are reunited when they find themselves being stalked by a hook-wielding maniac in their small seaside town.
No news on plot details for the new one as yet.
