We’ve just heard that one of the year’s best films, featuring one of the year’s best performances in Cate Blanchett, Tár, is heading to the home formats in the UK this coming April. It has some pretty amazing box-art, too.
Amazon has listed the DVD and Blu-ray on their website as being available from 17th April with a 28-page book included with a copy of the film on disc. I presume this one will be available on digital just prior, possibly just a couple of weeks away.
The film is the story of Lydia Tár, the first female conductor in one of Germany’s most prestigious orchestras. It’s a superb film which I adored when I caught it back in January. I said the following about Todd Field’s fantastic feature:
A film dominated by its central performance from Blanchett – yes, those Oscar whispers are more than warranted 0 along with commanding staging from Field. Unmissable.

More on the home release as it comes our way.
