‘Blackberry’ trailer lands online following SXSW, Berlinale premieres

The trailer for the superb true story, Blackberry has arrived online. The film had its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival in Germany last month and will land in cinemas later this year. It also had a North American screening at this week’s SXSW and this U.S. trailer jumps off the back of that.

The film will apparently be brought to international markets sometime this year via Paramount. More on that as we get it. Lucky U.S. audiences can see this in cinemas courtesy of IFC from 12th May.

The story is as follows.

Opening in theaters May 12 The true story of the meteoric rise & catastrophic demise of the world’s first smartphone, BLACKBERRY is a whirlwind ride through a ruthlessly competitive Silicon Valley at breakneck speeds.

Jay Baruchel, Glenn Howerton, and Matt Johnson lead the cast of the film, which is directed by Johnson.

I caught the film in Berlin and had this to say.

It is exactly as you expect the film to be, presented in a fun, comedic style, all topped off by wonderful central performances. There is also an absolutely cracking soundtrack and some brilliant ’80s and ’90s references and pop culture nods which is still oh-so-very in vogue at the moment.
