‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ blows away competitors at the box-office

It’s official, if not unsurprising – John Wick: Chapter 4 opened at the top spot in the U.S. box-office top ten this past weekend, grabbing a huge $73.5 million in returns. That easily bagged it the top spot stateside, nearly eight times the haul of its nearest competitor, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which scored just $9.7M.

‘Shazam! 2’ disappoints with just $46.2 million in receipts since its release ten days ago, which ‘Wick 4′ eclipsing the films series’ previous record-holder, ‘Chapter 3’ which opened with$56.8 million pre-pandemic back in 2019. We’re guessing movies are back.

The film is enjoying largely positive reviews and great word of mouth and, despite a near three-hour running time, is packing in the punters. Scream VI rounded out the top three in the U.S. with another $8.4 million in the bank taking its domestic total to $89.8 million since release.
