A trailer has arrived for a new historical epic starring John Wick: Chapter 4 star Donnie Yen. Titled Sakra, the film will have a stateside release through Well Go USA later this year. It already opened in Hong KOng back in January and we’re hoping that it will come to the UK soon, too.
Yen also directs the film, which also stars Chen Yuqi, and Cya Liu. It is adapted from the wuxia novel Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils written by Jin Yong.
The official wording is as follows.
Sakra stars Donnie Yen as Qiao Feng, the respected leader of a roving band of martial artists. After he is wrongfully accused of murder and subsequently exiled, Qiao Feng goes on the run in search of answers about his own mysterious origin story—and the unknown enemies working to destroy him from the shadows.
Donnie Yen is easily one of the best things about JW4 and I’m heading back to see the film again just to see the guy kick ass as Caine once again. He’s great.
If you’re in the U.S. you can catch Sakra from April 14th, 2023 in cinemas, and then on VOD from April 18th.
