Deadline is reporting that the filmmaking team behind the last two Scream movies, not to mention the brilliant Ready Or Not, are set to tackle a monster movie over at Universal next. Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett will helm the untitled project at the studio, so says the trade with Chad Villella, William Sherak, Paul Neinstein and James Vanderbilt producing.
The screenplay for the film was written by Stephen Shields with Guy Busick handling revisions on the script.
Plot details are top secret, but Deadline revealed that the planned movie ‘provides a unique take on legendary monster lore and will represent a fresh, new direction for how to celebrate classic characters.’
I dig this. These guys really pumped new life into the Scream franchise so I’m really interested in seeing what they do over at Universal with their movie monster universe.
