Sequel to ‘The Pope’s Exorcist’ is reportedly on the way

Bloody Disgusting is reporting that a sequel to this year’s film The Pope’s Exorcist is in the planning stage. The outlet doesn’t have any more info about the planned project other than the initial details at this stage.

The Pope’s Exorcist stars Russell Crowe as Father Gabriele Amorth, Chief Exorcist of the Vatican and was only released in cinemas earlier this month. So far, though, it has taken $52 million around the world from a reported $18 million budget.

The story is as follows:

Inspired by the actual files of Father Gabriele Amorth, Chief Exorcist of the Vatican (Crowe), The Pope’s Exorcist follows Amorth as he investigates a young boy’s terrifying possession and ends up uncovering a centuries-old conspiracy the Vatican has desperately tried to keep hidden.

We’ll keep you posted on any future developments surrounding this potential new sequel.
