Yorgos Lanthimos’ next film ‘Poor Things’ gets a release date

Yorgos Lanthimos’next film Poor Things has got a release date. The film is positioned for a September release so we might expect this one to premiere just before then at one of the festivals. Maybe Venice?

The highly anticipated feature is based on the 1992 novel of the same name by Alasdair Gray and boasts an impressive cast that includes Emma Stone, Willem Dafoe, Mark Ruffalo, Ramy Youssef, Jerrod Carmichael, Christopher Abbott, Margaret Qualley and Kathryn Hunter.

The official synopsis reads that the film ‘centers on the incredible tale and fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter (Stone), a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn. Hungry for the worldliness she is lacking, Bella runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. Free from the prejudices of her times, Bella grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation.’

Searchlight Pictures will release Poor Things on 8th September.
