‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood’s’ Rick Dalton is no more

Leonardo DiCaprio stars as Rick Dalton in Columbia Pictures’ “Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood”

Quentin Tarantino has revealed that he has ‘killed off’ one of his characters from his acclaimed Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. Rick Dalton (played by Leonardo DiCaprio in the 2019 movie) is officially resting in peace.

A tweet from The Video Archives Podcast, from Tarantino and Roger Avary, confirmed the news, saying:  “We are saddened by the news of the passing of actor Rick Dalton, best known for his roles in the hit TV series ‘Bounty Law’ and ‘The Fireman trilogy’,” it said. “Rick passed away peacefully in his home in Hawaii and is survived by his wife Francesca.”

Of course, the character isn’t real at all, but has had some further adventures in text in Tarantino’s OUATIH novelisation and a ‘Films Of Rick Dalton’ book. If the fictional Hollywood icon were real, though, he would have lived to the grand old age of 90.

A special memorial episode is planned for Tuesday, as confirmed the podcast’s official account – “Because of his passing, the episode for Rollerball has been postponed,” a tweet read. “Instead, we will come back on Tuesday with a memorial episode designed by Quentin that features some of Rick’s best roles.”

Tarantino is due in Cannes this week for the closing day of the Directors’ Fortnight strand.
