Trailer for Netflix’s ‘Nimona’, a new animated feature coming in June

NIMONA – A Knight (Riz Ahmed) is framed for a crime he didn’t commit and the only person who can help him prove his innocence is Nimona (Chloe? Grace Moretz), a shape-shifting teen who might also be a monster he’s sworn to kill. Set in a techno-medieval world unlike anything animation has tackled before, this is a story about the labels we assign to people and the shapeshifter who refuses to be defined by anyone. The trailer for Netflix’s upcoming Nimona has been released. The feature animation is based on ND Stevenson’s graphic novel of the same name and will release later this year. The voice cast includes Riz Ahmed, Chloë Grace Moretz, Eugene Lee Yang, Frances Conroy, Lorraine Toussaint, Beck Bennett, RuPaul, Indya Moore, Julio Torres, and Sarah Sherman.

The project was previously set up at Blue Sky, the animation house behind the Ice Age movies and more, before it was sadly closed down. The great news is that Netflix have now picked it up and will release it on 30th June.

Plot synopsis is as follows:

When Ballister Boldheart (Riz Ahmed), a knight in a futuristic medieval world, is framed for a crime he didn’t commit, the only one who can help him prove his innocence is Nimona (Chloë Grace Moretz), a mischievous teen with a taste for mayhem — who also happens to be a shapeshifting creature Ballister has been trained to destroy. But with the entire kingdom out to get him, Nimona’s the best (or technically the only) sidekick Ballister can hope for. And as the lines between heroes, villains, and monsters start to blur, the two of them set out to wreak serious havoc — for Ballister to clear his name once and for all, and for Nimona to…just wreak serious havoc.

Here’s the teaser trailer.
