Eddie Murphy to lead ‘Candy Cane Lane’ for Prime Video this Christmas

Prime Video has announced that they will release a brand new Eddie Murphy comedy this Christmas. Candy Cane Lane is the screen legend’s first. holiday movie and comes to the screen with Tracee Ellis Ross, Jillian Bell, Ken Marino, Nick Offerman, Robin Thede, Chris Redd, D.C. Young Fly, and Anjelah Johnson-Reyes also billed among the cast members.

The movie is produced by Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, Eddie Murphy, Karen Lunder, and Charisse Hewitt-Webster with Reginald Hudlin directing. The screenplay comes from Kelly Younger, inspired by his own childhood holiday experiences on Candy Cane Lane in El Segundo, CA.

The film is Grazer and Hudlin’s first project since the 1992 film Boomerang, which also starred Murphy in the lead.

The synopsis is as follows.

Eddie Murphy stars in this holiday comedy adventure about a man on a mission to win his neighborhood’s annual Christmas home decoration contest. After Chris (Eddie Murphy) inadvertently makes a deal with a mischievous elf named Pepper (Jillian Bell) to better his chances of winning, she casts a magic spell that brings the 12 Days of Christmas to life, and wreaks havoc on the whole town. At the risk of ruining the holidays for his family, Chris, his wife Carol (Tracee Ellis Ross), and their three children must race against the clock to break Pepper’s spell, battle deviously magical characters, and save Christmas for everyone.

No trailer or any type of footage available to share as yet, but we’ll keep you posted. As the graphic states above, the film hots Prime Video from 1st December.
