I’ve been looking forward to this one for quite some time. In 2021, Boiling Point hit screens to huge acclaim landing BAFTA nods and various other awards, and deservedly so. The film is a true one-er; a one shot thriller set over the course of one night in a busy restaurant during Christmas week. Last year, a BBC Boiling Point TV series – a sequel series – was announced, and now the broadcaster has named the date on which the first episode will air.
Stephen Graham and Vinette Robinson return for the new series along with other members of the cast of the original movie. Also returning is director Philip Barantini and writer/ series creator James Cummings. Mounia Akl also directs with the story being stretched across four, one hour episodes.
First the synopsis for the new series, though beware of some plot spoilers for the Boiling Point film.
Eight months after her mentor Andy Jones (Stephen Graham) suffered a heart attack, head chef Carly (Vinette Robinson) is battling to forge a name for new London restaurant Point North alongside her old kitchen crew. With the pressure to draw in new, hungry customers and the financial squeeze to keep the business profitable, the team must find a way to manage their complicated personal lives whilst creating quality food day in, day out.
The Boiling Point TV series filmed up in Manchester earlier this year and is your new October must-watch.
The first episode of the Boiling Point TV series will air on BBC One on 1st October with the other three rolling out on each following Sunday evening.
Having been lucky to watch the film play out in real time when I visited the set just before the pandemic hit in March 2020, I will be first in line to see what this talented bunch have cooked up for us now.
