‘Argylle’ trailer lands: Matthew Vaughn-helmed spy movie hits screens next year

Argylle trailer

A debut Argylle trailer has landed courtesy of Universal. The film is the latest from Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake, X-Men: Origins series, Kingsman) and stars Henry Cavill, Bryce Dallas Howard, John Cena, Dua Lipa, Bryan Cranston, Sofia Boutella, Ariana DeBose, Catherine O’Hara and Samuel L. Jackson. What a cast.

This one is set to land on screens next year and is based on the as-yet-unreleased (?) novel by Elly Conway who Bryce Dallas Howard plays in the film. Vaughn wrote the script with Jason Fuchs.

Here’s a little more about it.

Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World franchise) is Elly Conway, the reclusive author of a series of best-selling espionage novels, whose idea of bliss is a night at home with her computer and her cat, Alfie. But when the plots of Elly’s fictional books—which center on secret agent Argylle and his mission to unravel a global spy syndicate—begin to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organization, quiet evenings at home become a thing of the past. Accompanied by Aiden (Oscar® winner Sam Rockwell), a cat-allergic spy, Elly (carrying Alfie in her backpack) races across the world to stay one step ahead of the killers as the line between Elly’s fictional world and her real one begins to blur.

The Argylle trailer can be seen in all its glory in the player below. The film itself will open on cinemas screens everywhere from next February – theatrically through Universal and then presumably shortly afterwards on the AppleTV+ streaming service as the film is produced by Apple Original Films.

We’re very much looking forward to seeing what Vaughn and co. have done with this.
