A new trailer has been released for Society of the Snow, a Netflix bound survival thriller based on the story that was first translated into a film title Alive back in the ’90s. The hugely talented J.A. Bayonne is directing this one which premiered at the Venice Film Festival earlier this year.
Bayona’s film tells the story of an Uruguayan airline which crashes into the Andes mountains in the early 1970s. Only 29 of the 45 passengers on board survived, each of them having to resort to extreme measures to survive. If you’ve seen Alive, you’ll know what I’m referring to.
Here’s the full synopsis as provided by the streamer.
In 1972, Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571, which had been chartered to fly a rugby team to Chile, crashed in the heart of the Andes. Only 29 of its 45 passengers survived the accident. Trapped in one of the most hostile and inaccessible environments on the planet, they have to resort to extreme measures to stay alive.
The cast includes Enzo Vogrincic, Agustín Pardella, Matías Recalt, Esteban Bigliardi, Rafael Federman, Fernando Contigiani García, Diego Vegezzi, Esteban Kukuriczka, Francisco Romero, Valentino Alonso, Tomás Wolf, Agustín Della Corte, Felipe Otaño, Andy Pruss, Blas Polidori, Felipe Ramusio, and Simón Hempe.
It will arrive on Netflix next year on 4th January.
Here’s the new teaser.
