A trailer has landed for Steve McQueen’s new film, a documentary titled Occupied City that is hitting screens soon. The film premiered at Cannes and runs for over four hours.
The work is based on Atlas of an Occupied City, Amsterdam 1940-1945 by Bianca Stigter and is about Amsterdam under Nazi occupation during World War II whilst also drawing parallels with 21st-century far-right movements. It was heralded at Cannes and has had generally positive reviews from further screenings since.
A24 will release this one on Christmas Day in the US.
