James Gunn has cast his villain for his planned upcoming Superman movie. Deadline is reporting that British actor Nicholas Hoult will play the iconic Lex Luthor in the planned movie, Superman: Legacy.
The film already has David Corenswet as Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. Hoult would fill out the trio in the new DC movie, which will kick off shooting next year. Gene Hackman, Kevin Spacey and Jesse Eisenberg have played Luthor on the big screen in movies past.
Gunn is hard at work on the new movie which is one of the first in the new James Gunn and Peter Safran era of DC movies. The final movie in the DCEU, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, is released in just a matter of weeks.
Hoult has a bunch of movies on the cards in the coming months, including the animated feature The Garfield Movie, Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu, The Order, directed by Justin Kurzel, and Juror #2 from Clint Eastwood
Superman: Legacy will land on screens on 11th July 2025.
