In the digital era, anyone has access to all sorts of films and TV shows. If you’re watching something, it’s probably on one of the most popular platforms. Each platform increases its volume of shows and films every year as it commissions actors, actresses, directors, and entire film crews to create new ones. That’s how these platforms create original titles that only users on the platform can watch.
Naturally, they have bought the rights to some classic films. Throughout the decades, there have been some iconic titles that have mesmerized audiences for some time. These titles are amazing and offer a different look at a different time.
They belong to various genres, but they don’t fail to entertain. Some of your favorite old actors were young back then and you’ll get to see how talented they were back then. There are lots of reasons for watching iconic films, and there are plenty of them to pick from.
You can go on your favorite platforms and find some of them by going back in time. If you don’t know where to start, then here are some suggestions:
The Godfather
When it comes to classic films, it doesn’t get any more classic than The Godfather. It’s a film with a different view of the Italian mafia. You’re thrust into the deep underbelly of New York City as you’re introduced to Don Corleone, the head of the Corleone family. He’s seeing various people and granting them favors on his daughter’s wedding day. Pretty soon, it’s clear that this is more than an ordinary family, it’s also a crime syndicate as we see the FBI at the wedding as well as other crime bosses.
Things go pretty sour for Don Corleone after that, as he’s refused a deal with a certain businessman. When he’s gunned down, his job falls to the oldest son, Santino, as he drives the family to war. Michael, the youngest son, gets mixed into things, and things spiral out of control as the young Sonny loses his life. Michael becomes head of the family and plans a notorious comeback against the Five Families and a move to Las Vegas.
Vegas is called Sin City for several reasons, and in its past shares some ties with the Underground. But that’s in the past and Vegas is a casino mecca for punters all over the world. Nowadays, the casino industry is digital as there are plenty of online casinos to cater to players’ needs. The US made the jump into the market as there are several states that opted to legalize iGaming. Thanks to this move, US casino fans can now enjoy a steady stream of games in a variety of casinos. Aside from that, these sites offer US deals for new casino members and spice things up with enticing offers for regular players. These offers and games are coupled with a secure gaming environment and a plethora of payment methods.
The first Godfather film is a classic and a must-watch for any movie fan. The second one is a faithful sequel to the original, and worth a watch too.
Pulp Fiction
The 90s were a great period for the film industry as it experienced a shift. There are many great films from that era and Pulp Fiction is one of them. Although Tarantino has many great titles under his belt, Pulp Fiction is the first name that comes to mind when you think of his name. It’s a crime film that doesn’t follow a straight story. It comes with several characters in various situations. Moreover, the film doesn’t follow a particular order. It’s a gritty film featuring a grotesque set of characters. Vincent and Jules are two small-time criminals working for Wallace, then you have a boxer who’s framed the big crook and an awkward evening between his wife and Jules. It’s a film that’s inspired by the various tales of crime and violence in LA, and the magazines that published them.
Tarantino’s films are quite gritty and some of the older ones are worth a watch. Naturally, there are many other iconic films throughout the ages.
Blade Runner
Science fiction is a genre with many facets and nuances. There have been lots of amazing films in the genre, and the 80s had several such titles, but none of them were as good as Blade Runner. It’s a film set in the far future and follows the story of Deckard. He’s a detective on the hunt for rogue androids that have risen up against their human masters and executed them. He’s also given Rachel, an android with false memories believing she’s a woman. The movie is an exceptionally clever one and tackles various topics such as the meaning of being alive, death, and more. It also features a stellar performance of Harrison Ford who’s the leading role in the film.
The Matrix
When it comes to sci-fi titles it doesn’t get better than The Matrix. The entire trilogy is made up of amazing films, and it all starts with the first one. Mr. Anderson is a programmer just like anyone, but once agents come to his office and interrogate him, he finds out that reality is not what it seems. It doesn’t take long for him to link up with Trinity and Morpheus.
They show him what reality looks like, and he soon finds out that most humans are incubated and machines are using them as energy sources to keep their empire running. Mr. Anderson becomes Neo and takes the fight back to them. Along with other entities, they fight people in the simulation and in the real world. It’s a gripping sci-fi story with just enough philosophy to keep you on the edge of your seat.
To Wrap Up
These are some of the best films of all time. They can be classified as old, but they are worth a watch. Some of them are sci-fi while others belong to the crime genre. Nevertheless, they don’t disappoint when it comes to providing quality entertainment.
