The wrestling-themed true story will arrive in February.

Lionsgate has picked up the UK rights for the Zac Efron-led The Iron Claw. The film will be released in cinemas next year, according to an official press release we’ve just received.

The Iron Claw depicts the true story of the inseparable Von Erich brothers, who made history in the intensely competitive world of professional wrestling in the early 1980s. Through tragedy and triumph, under the shadow of their domineering father and coach, the brothers seek larger-than-life immortality on the biggest stage in sports.

The film stars Zac Efron, Jeremy Allen White, Harris Dickinson, Holt McCallany, Maura Tierney and Lily James . Writer-Director Sean Durkin (Dead Ringers, The Nest) directs.

Lionsgate UK will release the film in UK and Irish cinemas on Friday 9th February.

Marie Claire Benson Lionsgate UK EVP and Head of the UK Motion Picture Group, said, “The Iron Claw is a story of incredible success, family loyalty and sibling rivalry, told by outstanding talent both in front of and behind the camera. A24 are renowned for uncovering compelling and interesting stories, and the team at Lionsgate UK are thrilled to be bringing this powerhouse of a film to UK audiences next year.”
