We’ve just received word of a new trailer for the upcoming biblical epic The Book of Clarence starring LaKeith Stanfield which is due in cinemas next year. This is the new film from the hugely talented Jeymes Samuel who directed Netflix’s western The Harder They Fall, a firm favourite from a couple of years back.
The film also stars Omar Sy, Anna Diop, RJ Cyler, David Oyelowo, Micheal Ward, Alfre Woodard, Teyana Taylor, Caleb McLaughlin, Eric Kofi-Abrefa, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, James McAvoy and Benedict Cumberbatch – so quite the cast.
Inspired by classic Hollywood epics set in biblical times, Legendary’s The Book of Clarence tells the tale of Clarence (LaKeith Stanfield), a down-on-his-luck denizen of Jerusalem embarking on a misguided attempt to capitalize on the rise of celebrity and influence of the Messiah for his own personal gain. It’s a journey that leads him on an exploration of the idea of faith and to an unexpected path of his own.
The film has already had a couple of screenings on the festival circuit and will come to cinemas in January.
Here’s the trailer.
