Here’s some quick news about the Silent Night UK release. This has been on my mind for a little while as the latest film from Hong Kong action supermodel John Woo has been out in the US since last weekend but there has been little to no hint about when the movie will hit British territory. Well, now it has been confirmed to be dropping onto Sky Cinema from 23rd December. That’s directly to the streaming/ cable/satellite service bypassing cinemas here.
The Silent Night UK release is a little way off but the film scored just $3 million in grosses in its opening weekend stateside on around 1500 screens. The critical response on Rotten Tomatoes sits at 61% making it just about fresh.
The film is Woo’s first American film since 2003’s Paycheck with Ben Affleck and Uma Thurman. Silent Night stars Joel Kinnaman, Scott Mescudi, Harold Torres, and Catalina Sandino Moreno and is free of dialogue.
From legendary director John Woo and the producer of John Wick comes this gritty revenge tale of a tormented father (Joel Kinnaman) who witnesses his young son die when caught in a gang’s crossfire on Christmas Eve. While recovering from a wound that costs him his voice, he makes vengeance his life’s mission and embarks on a punishing training regimen in order to avenge his son’s death.
Sounds good, right? Anything with John Woo’s name attached to it certainly has our attention and we’ll be ready to catch this when it hits Sky Cinema on 23rd December.
Lionsgate released the film in the US. We’ll bring you a full review of the Silent Night UK release as and when possible.
