‘Five Nights At Freddy’s’ sequel reportedly on the way

The first film has taken nearly $290 million in box-office receipts.

A Five Nights At Freddy’s sequel is reportedly on the way, according to a string of reports that have appeared online today.

Variety reports the news after speaking with one of the stars of the 2023 horror movie, Blumhouse’s most successful movie today. Josh Hutcherson, set to appear in this month’s The Beekeeper opposite Jason Statham, had the following to say about a potential follow-up.

Five Nights At Freddy's sequel
FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S, from Universal Pictures and Blumhouse in association with Striker Entertainment.

“I know they’re in the process right now of nailing down the story, and they want to get going as soon as possible. Obviously, the fans are amazing and die hard. For me to be a part of it was was so cool and phenomenal. We hoped it would connect with audiences. But I don’t think that anybody, even on our side of things, expected it to really connect the way that it did. I’m dying to get back on set. Emma Tammi, our director, was fantastic, and it was such a fun world to play in. I’m excited to see what they are doing next.“

The synopsis for the first film is as follows:

Recently fired and desperate for work so that he can keep custody of his little sister, Mike (Josh Hutcherson; The Hunger Games Franchise) agrees to take a position as a night security guard at an abandoned theme restaurant: Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria. But Mike soon discovers that nothing at Freddy’s is what it seems. Mike’s nights at Freddy’s will lead him into unexplainable encounters with the supernatural and drag him into the black heart of an unspeakable nightmare.

The Five Nights At Freddy‘s sequel news isn’t surprising as the first film, based on the hit video game first released back in 2014, grossed a whopping $289 million (at the time of writing) from a reported budget of just $20 million. That’s some business.

The trade has reached out to Blumhouse for comment on the potential sequel. We’ll bring you more news as soon as possible but are you pleased with the potential plans for a follow up?
