The time has come to discover the Napoleon digital release date. Today, Sony Pictures and Apple Original Films has announced that the Ridley Scott-directed film which hit cinemas late last year will be available on home premiere this very week, on 9th January 2024.
Directed by Scott from a screenplay by David Scarpa, Napoleon stars Joaquin Phoenix as the French emperor and military leader. The film is an original and personal look at Napoleon’s origins and his swift, ruthless climb to emperor, viewed through the prism of his addictive and often volatile relationship with his wife and one true love, Josephine, played by Vanessa Kirby. The film captures Napoleon’s famous battles, relentless ambition and astounding strategic mind as an extraordinary military leader and war visionary.
The film has so far grossed over $214 million in cinemas all around the world.
The Napoleon digital release date comes ahead of an Apple TV+ debut which will be set for the near future. If the recent Killers of the Flower Moon dates dictate how this one rolls out onto the main streaming service, we should be looking for Napoleon to drop on Apple TV+ in February sometime, though nothing has been said about that officially as yet. Killers of the Flower Moon hits Apple TV on Friday.
Since its global theatrical debut, the film has drawn broad critical acclaim, and the film recently landed on the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Oscars shortlists in the Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Sound and Best Visual Effects categories, as well as the EE British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards long lists in the Outstanding British Film, Cinematography, Costume Design, Make Up and Hair, Original Score, Production Design and Sound categories, and has received a Critics Choice Award nomination for Best Costume Design.
