New trailer for dark thriller ‘The G’ ahead of its Glasgow UK premiere

A new trailer for the dark thriller The G has been released ahead of the film’s release at the forthcoming Glasgow Film Festival later this month. Dale Dickey (Hell or High WaterWinter’s Bone) takes the lead as Ann Hunter aka ‘The G’. The film is written and directed by Karl R. Hearne.

The G follows Ann and her husband, who retired to an unnamed American suburb 10 years ago to be near his family. But one day out of the blue they are snatched from their home by a corrupt legal guardian who believes they have hidden wealth.

Their home and assets are legally stripped from them and they are put in a prison-like “eldercare facility,” victims of an exploding old age industry. Trapped in a corrupt and terrifying system, The G begins to show her true mettle as she and her loyal granddaughter fight to get them out…and get revenge on the people who did this.

The world premiere of the film took place at November’s Tallinn Black Nights Festival, which is where I managed to catch it. I had some brief words to share about it on my round-up of the Estonian festival.

I said of the film:

A deeply absorbing film from filmmaker Karl R. Hearne (who also wrote the screenplay), it reminded me of early Coens with hints of Breaking BadBetter Call Saul with brilliantly written characters and an outstanding central performance from Dickey. She’s magnificent as Anne, a character defiant of age, refusing to give in as those take advantage, she herself taking matters into her own hands as the kick-ass anti-hero we hope she’d be. Seek it out.
