The new Superman movie has officially started shooting, according to a new Instagram Threads post from the film’s writer and director, James Gunn. Gunn also unveiled the new shield for the new feature which is set for a release in the summer of 2025.
David Corenswet is playing the legendary DC character in the first film from the James Gunn’s “Chapter One: Gods and Monsters” initiative at the helm of the company with Peter Safran.
In the post, Gunn said:
“When I finished the first draft of the script, I called the film Superman: Legacy. By the time I locked the final draft, it was clear the title was SUPERMAN. Making our way to you July 2025. Happy Birthday, Clark!”
Rachel Brosnahan is in the film as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. The film will release in cinemas on 11th July 2025.
