‘Late Night With The Devil’ reportedly takes $666k in box office receipts on Sunday

Here’s an interesting bit of box office news coming from the trade paper Variety in that horror movie Late Night With The Devil from IFC Films made a total of $666,666 in revenue from stateside cinemas this Sunday.

The film, directed by Colin Cairnes and Cameron Cairnes and starring David Dastmalchian was released in both the UK and US over the weekend and scored a brilliant $2.83 million in total, securing it the number six spot on the top ten. These are estimated, but if accurate, ‘Late Night’ is the success story of the weekend. It is IFC’s biggest opener of all time.

The film revolves around a live television broadcast in 1977 that goes horribly wrong, unloosing evil into the nation’s living rooms.

The full synopsis is as follows:

October 31, 1977. Johnny Carson rival Jack Delroy hosts a syndicated late night talk show ‘Night Owls’ that has long been a trusted companion to insomniacs around the country. A year after the tragic death of Jack’s wife, ratings have plummeted. Desperate to turn his fortunes around, Jack plans a Halloween special like no other, unaware that he is about to unleash evil into the living rooms of America.

The movie is going to play out in cinemas in the next few weeks and then drop onto Shudder on 19th April, so streaming audiences don’t have long to wait to see the flick on the small screen. The feature was released through Vertigo Releasing in the UK.
