Sean Penn and Tye Sheridan lead the cast of the upcoming Black Flies which Signature Entertainment have picked up and release in April.
The feature is set to land on Prime Video on 19th April, according to an official press release.
Black Flies has also gone by the name of Asphalt City and premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last year. It is released stateside on Fridfay this week through Vertical Entertainment and Roadside Attractions.
Ollie Cross (Tye Sheridan, Ready Player One) is ready to do good. In preparation for his dream of medical school, he hits the streets driving an ambulance alongside Rutkovsky (Sean Penn, Milk), a grizzled veteran and one of New York’s best medics. Among the often startling jobs they encounter during Cross’s rookie tenure, nothing compares to the crisis that emerges when the partners respond to a call from a mother who has just given birth to a premature baby. Their handling of the mother and child will forever alter the course of both men’s lives.
Also starring Michael Pitt (Funny Games), Katherine Waterston (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) and Mike Tyson (The Hangover), Black Flies is directed by Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire (A Prayer Before Dawn) from a script written by Ben Mac Brown and Ryan King (The Tutor), based on Shannon Burke’s novel.
